Karin Huttary - the latest addition to POCs Skier X team talks about the future prior to the upcoming Saab Salomon Crossmax even (11/21/2007)

Karin Huttary is arguably the world's best female Skier-X competitor with two gold medals at the 2006 and 2004 X-Games under her belt. And she was the first to capture the discipline's World Championship title in 2005. Despite her back injury last year the 30 year old Austrian/Swedish skier has recovered and has now set her sights on competing in skier-X in Vancouver in the 2010 Winter Olympics.
"After a bad crash last December I lost the entire season. I was not able to defend my titles from the years before, such as the X-games gold medal and the skier-X FIS world championship title. This has been a thorn in my side ever since and this fact has kept me inspired during those long hours of rehab. After two major surgeries in my back and all those hours in the gym I look at this coming season as the great revenge.
Karin is a former World Cup Alpine race skier who made the transition into Skier-X look easy.
"I wanted to keep skiing but I didn't want to race. I didn't know that Skier-X would be that professional. I find it much more fun skiing alongside other riders and I love all the jumps."
Like many Europeans Karin took up skiing at an early age. She learned the sport following her father around the slopes, in Innsbruck, at the age of three. She raced with the Swedish National team on the World Cup circuit from 1996-2001. She would later discover that racing didn't fit her.
"With my body and mind stronger than ever and the support from the leading helmet and protection company POC I feel that I can go ALL IN. The body armor and helmet I am using keeps me in that safe and comforting zone that I want to be in to have my mind set on the mission."
"My mission is to go fast and win those medals back" says Karin.
