New addition to POC Big Mountain Team: Stina Jakobsson

POC's Big Mountain Team gathers some of the most influential backcountry skiers in the world. Skiing down incredibly steep slopes, narrow couloirs and dropping off huge cliffs demands skill, courage, physical endurance, smarts and the best possible protection, if something does goes wrong. POC's Big Mountain athletes are invaluable to POC, when it comes to surpassing ourselves in developing even better and safer products.

This is why we are extremely proud to announce that Stina Jakobsson of Sweden has joined the team.

Other members of POC Big Mountain Team are: Aurélien Ducroz FRA, PY Leblanc CAN, Per Huss SWE, Daisuke Sasaki JAP.

Stina Jakobsson is no stranger to danger on skis. At age 20, she is Sweden's leading female Big Mountain competitor. She's been skiing since the age of two and competing professionally since she was nine. Her first extreme event at age 13 was the Scandinavian Big Mountain Championships in Riksgränsen. She is still the youngest competitor in the history of this event.

2005 was a banner year for the young Swedish skier. Stina became the first competitor to win both the Swedish Championships in extreme skiing and the Scandinavian Big Mountain Championships - all in the same year. Later that year she was invited to be part of the now classic Free Radicals film experience which led to a role in Free Radicals, "Rising". In the winter of 2006 she appeared in her second Free Radicals film, "Snow Blind". Stina recalls: "That was the year I finished second in my first big international competition, O'Neill Xtreme, in Verbier" - ranked as one of the world's most dangerous ski competitions.

In the spring of 2006 Stina took home another win in the extreme Swedish Championships but then her luck ran out. The day before the start of another competition in Riksgränsen in 2006 she broke her leg during a film shoot. This kept her off skis for nearly a year. Now she's back with a renewed passion to win. "I'm going to spend the winter in Verbier skiing, competing, filming and doing photo shoots. I couldn't be happier being back on skis!"

"I'm really excited to be part of the POC Big Mountain Team! I look forward to the challenge of proofing that I belong among these great skiers! The fact that POC's helmets are probably the best on the market - considering performance, safety and design - makes it even better! I want to cooperate with POC since I believe in them 100%" says Stina.
