Fourth athlete to be named to the new POC Receptor Team: Mathias Ringström (1/7/2008)

The Receptor Team is POC's new cross-disciplinary team that brings together athletes from a wide range of different gravity sports including: skiers, skateboarders, wake and kite boarders, BMX, cyclists and "bike parkers". Aside from being top athletes in their respective disciplines, they all use POC's new Receptor helmet. To our knowledge it is the only helmet certified for all these disciplines in the U.S. as well as Europe. To learn more about POC and the Receptor helmet, go to www.pocski.com

Sweden's 31 year old Mathias Ringström is one of the most respected skateboarders in the world today. And no wonder, he's been competing on the world circuit for more than 10 years and has won more medals than he can count. His most recent top finish was a bronze in the Vert at the X-Games.

"It feels great to have finished third", he told a reporter recently. "I have been competing in the X-Games since the very first one 13 years ago".

Mathias, who now makes his home in California, is known as somewhat of a spokesman for the sport and one of the most innovative skaters around. He's famous for making up new tricks and constantly pushing the sport to higher and higher levels of performance. During his long career Mathias has had his share of injuries. In a recent reference to POC's new Receptor helmet he had this to say: "After having suffered 9 concussions, it's a relief to wear a helmet that I know does the job".

Mathias has managed just as well off the ramp. He's appeared in many TV commercials for top international brand companies, had three signature shoe models and even had his own trading card. You might say he's a true ambassador for the sport of skateboarding.
