Lars Lewén 1st in the Skier-X World Cup race in Grindeval, Switzerland (3/7/2008)

For the first time in his ski career, Lars Lewén from Sweden got to enjoy the satisfaction of standing at the top of the podium in the Skier-X World Cup, yesterday in Grindeval Switzerland. Lars is a two-time X-Games gold medalist (2006 and 2003) and a one time silver medalist (2004), but this is his first and long awaited World Cup victory.

The final was very tight and after a small mistake half way through the run, neck and neck with the overall World Cup leader Tomas Kraus, the Swede managed to squeeze passed on the inside and be the first to cross the finishing line.

"I am relived; finally I got to stand at the top of the podium in a World Cup event. It feels terribly nice" says Lars.

Lars is undoubtedly one of the Skier-X superstars! He is also a talented alpine skier, being a former member of the Swedish Alpine team. This Swedish powerhouse and POC rider is known for his incredible starts. He now ranks 4th in the overall Skier-X World Cup with a score of 248 points and with two remaining competitions he still has a chance of a spot on the podium. Tomas Kraus from the Czech Republic is in the lead. The next event is on Saturday in Meiringen-Hasliberg, also in Switzerland.
