POC Team rider Aurélien Ducroz season recap (4/4/2008)

Aurélien has given us a lot to smile about this season. Four podiums and not to forget, he has given us a season of great skiing to enjoy!

Aurélien started the Extreme World tour with not less but three podiums and finished it off by totally charging it in Verbier. Aurélien gave the audience an extremely entertaining show with breathtaking drops which unfortunately ended in somersaults. The crowd loved it, but sadly that does not add any points to the total.

"Considering the last run it was great coming 3rd in the total World Tour!" says Aurélien. "I'm really proud to ride with POC products. As free riders we are taking some big risk and it helps a lot knowing that you have the best protection. Mentally, it gives you the confidence you need and not to forget, the satisfaction to have the right and the best gear!"

The former elite ski jumping Frenchman from the valley of Chamonix grew up with his father (godfather of guides in Chamonix) on the mountains. Aurélien started competing in free riding first when he was 21 years old and is now showing everyone how it is done.

What was the highlight of the season?
I had many highlights this season. I had 3 podiums out of 5 and then finally also the overall podium, so it has been a great year! My favorite though was my silver medal in the Big Mountain Pro. The level was really high and it was a very big face. I managed to produce exactly the skiing I wanted, which made me very happy!

What have you learnt?
I have learnt a lot about skiing, about the choice of line and how to approach a World Tour.

What are you looking forward to most now?
I will focus on filming until the end of April and after that I'm gonna do as much sailing as possible!

What are you looking forward to next season?
It has been such a good season that I really look forward to get started and get on going on the World Tour next year again!
